ABOUT THE COMPANY 

Capital and Coast DHB (CCDHB) is located centrally in Wellington and has the equivalent of around 4,300 full time staff, making us a major employer in the Wellington region. ABOUT THE ROLE 

We are seeking a confident experienced midwife to do a fixed term contract with our Community Midwifery Team providing antenatal and postnatal care. You will also be working a minimum of one day per fortnight in Delivery Suite whilst we a review our community midwifery services and models of care.

We are looking for an experienced Midwife who has:

  • The ability to work as a member of a team
  • The ability to work in an efficient and organised way
  • The ability to be adaptable
  • The ability to work collaboratively with all health professionals to support excellent maternity care
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; verbal, telephone, written and electronic
  • An understanding of the importance of liaison with all stakeholders in hospital and community
  • A strong midwifery philosophy

DUTIES

The Community Midwifery Team provides antenatal and postnatal midwifery care in any setting, including the home and hospital for;

  • Primary women who cannot find community based LMCs 
  • Women under the care of a private obstetrician, where there is a shared care arrangement
  • Secondary women requiring hospital midwifery services 
  • Women under tertiary care who have transferred from another DHB and are less than 6 weeks postnatal who have a baby in NICU

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Essential requirements are:

  • Registration with the Midwifery Council of NZ as a Registered Midwife
  • Current practising certificate with no restrictions on practice
  • Broad experience in Maternity care
  • On confident level of QLP or working towards it
  • Sound computer skills
  • Full, clean drivers licence
  • Ability to drive both manual and automatic cars
