About the business

Our client; a recently acquired, global FMCG and retail company are enjoying a hugely exciting building phase, in the creation of their finance team. The business are currently on the look out for an enterprising Assistant Accountant that can support both complex month end reporting duties as well as oversee AP & AR responsibilities. 

About the role

Reporting in to a Financial Controller and working in a dynamic and collaborative team of 6, this role will provide Accounting support to both the Financial Accountant and  Transaction teams. 

As the primary interface between Accounts Administration and the Financial Accountant, you will be required to fulfill the following responsibilities:-

  • Bank reconciliations
  • Balance sheet reconciliations
  • PAYE, FBT & GST
  • Support the Accounts payable and recieveable clerks
  • Accounts payable reconciliations 
  • Fixed asset register maintenance
  • General ledger maintenance 
  • Contribute to a new ERP integration project 
  • Continuous improvement and ad hoc project support

Skills and experience

My client is looking for someone with the following:-  

  • Tertiary qualification, ideally within finance, accounting, economics or business.  
  • Someone who is studying towards their professional CA or CPA qualification. 
  • At least 2 years' transactional finance experience within a commercial environment. 
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills (this is essential) 
  • A naturally inquisitive nature with the ability to build strong internal and external relationships. 
  • Strong Excel skills (V look ups, formula)
  • Experience working in a complex and demanding environment.
  • Superb time management and organisational ability.
  • Ability to multi-task effectively, think critically and take initiative
  • Strong numeracy skills and excellent attention to detail.  

You will be both performance and delivery orientated with the ability to work collaboratively & cross functionally.
