Step into the future of mental health delivery for prison services

Improving Mental Health (IMH) Clinician for prison services - 1 FTE 

Rural Canterbury PHO provides clinical and management support to primary care. The PHO also delivers primary mental health services to the three Canterbury Prisons.

We are seeking a registered mental health professional for the exciting role of Mental Health Clinician to provide clinical, educational and community liaison support to the Christchurch Men's Prison. 

The successful applicant will provide psychological and brief intervention for prisoners who have a mental health need or who are identified as being vulnerable within the prison environment.  Strong clinical acumen and competency with a therapeutic modality (e.g. CBT) essential.

The successful candidate will be based at Christchurch Men's  Prison and be supported by the Prison Health Centre staff and the IMH clinical team.

The position is a fixed term contract with flexible employment conditions.

Clinicians who hold registration under the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance (HPCA) Act or have a recognised social work qualification in addition to registration, will be considered for the position.
