The successful candidate will –

  • Be interested in working with pain and in the vocational rehabilitation areas.
  • Have excellent clinical knowledge and expertise in providing assessment and programmes to clients in community based settings. This may include – Pain Management / Vocational Assessment / Work Ready Programs  / Concussion Programs / Social Rehabilitation and Mobility Assessment / Training for Independence Programmes / Housing Modifications and Wheelchair and Seating
  • Have experience and interest in neuro-sensory rehabilitation.
  • Have the ability to identify the needs of injured people who require a variety of interventions and supports (including programmes, packages of care and mobility equipment) to assist them to safely return to independence.
  • Be able to think creatively and to provide innovative and meaningful solutions to educate and support people to maintain their usual life roles, their autonomy and independence to the optimum extent possible as they recover from injury.

Key Requirements-

  • Well- developed ability to engage with a range of clients with varying needs, cultures and ethnicities and to be able to assist them to identify their needs and goals.
  • An excellent ability to build relationships, with well -developed ability to communicate so that your client feels respected and their situation understood.
  • To be impartial, non-judgemental, receptive and supportive in your approach.
  • Have good report writing skills and be able to develop an objective, comprehensive and useful report and plan to represent the client's needs to communicate this to the ACC case manager.
  • To liaise with a range of other health professionals as will be helpful to achieve the best outcome for the client.
  • To be well organised in your ability to manage a workload to the level that this suits you and meet the required timeframes.

Base line requirements -

  • Be passionate about rehabilitation
  • Have community based experience.
  • Display a good understanding of what factors impact on rehabilitation
  • Preferably to have minimum of three years' experience post -graduation in community settings.
  • Current registration with your relevant health body.
  • To be undertaking regular professional supervision
  • To be undertaking (or willing to)  professional development and post graduate training.
  • A full clean drivers licence and provide your own transport (being re-numerated for travel time and mileage)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Hold NZ residency

Ideally –

  • You will also have had experience in working neuro-sensory physiotherapy or have a passion for doing so.
  • Have a post graduate qualification in vocational rehabilitation.
