Critical Care Department

 
Waikato Hospital Critical Care Department is looking for an Australasian trained (FCICM) locum Intensivist who would be prepared to come for ideally 3 months with a possible extension to 10 months or, to come for intermittent weeks. We are offering very competitive rates and accommodation.
 
The Critical Care Department at Waikato Hospital is the tertiary provider for Intensive Care to the Midland region. Our new unit is a state of the art, 16 bed facility providing care to patients requiring general intensive care, cardiac surgery and a level two facility for paediatric patients. We average around 1400 patients per year, across the three specialties. We operate a retrieval service both by air and road for critical care patients and a large contingency of cardiac patients.
 
The unit is credentialed by the College of Critical Care Medicine at level C24. The role is supported by 14 registrars covering 24/7. The nursing team is well developed with 24/7 senior nurse cover.
 
This is a challenging role which demands outstanding inter-professional collaboration skills with a commitment to integrate into the existing team.
 
Hamilton provides a great lifestyle with a drive time to work generally being 15 minutes or less, access to a range of outdoor activities like the Whakapapa Ski fields, surfing in Raglan and caving in Waitomo. There are excellent State and Private Schools for children of all ages. Hamilton also has fantastic restaurants and is only 90 minutes’ drive from other cities like Tauranga, Rotorua and Auckland.
 
You must:
· Hold current registration or be able to be registered with the Medical Council of New Zealand in the scope of practice of Intensive Care Medicine, and must be of good standing.
· Employment in this role will only be confirmed once the applicant has been successfully credentialed by the relevant committee of the Waikato District Health Board.
