Detail information about job Occupational Therapist. Terms and conditions vacancy

There really is nothing like the wild beauty of the South Island's West Coast. From the glaciers in the south to Punakaiki and the Heaphy Track in the north. Westport has easy access to them all, with its shop lined streets, the Buller River, historic architecture, cosy cafés and soon to be, the site of a brand new Hospital.

The role is responsible for the provision of effective quality Occupational Therapy assessment, treatment and education to patients in the West Coast DHB area, based in Buller Community and in liaison with Buller Health Services. In this position you will work as part of the WCDHB Occupational Therapy Services team and the Buller Health and Karamea Teams. You will find yourself working with a wide variety of people including with patients, whanau, family, caregivers and other Health Professionals and outside agencies.

To be successful in this role you will need to be a NZ Registered Occupational Therapist with current Annual Practising Certificate and at least five years experience in Occupational Therapy. If you have experience working in rural communities, even better.

Ideally you will have experience working as a community OT and have household management and home modification accreditation, along with wheelchair and seating assessment experience. You will be well organised, with excellent case-load management skills.

You will be a team player and keen to contribute to service development and health initiatives. Your strong communication skills and client focused approach will see you build positive relationships with clients/family/whanau and a variety of agencies while supporting client's independence and safety.
