ABOUT THE SERVICE
Our Diabetes Service based at Hutt Valley Hospital, receives referrals for children and adults with diabetes, who often have complex diabetes management needs. Most of these referralsare generated from other health professionals and must meet the referral criteria for the service. These referrals include advanced nutritional assessments and interventions such as: carbohydrate counting and insulin pump therapy; support and management prior to bariatric surgery; support for women with diabetes in pregnancy; people newly diagnosed with type 1 diabetes; people with type 2 diabetes commencing insulin therapy; people with complications of diabetes requiring nutritional support. People are seen in the hospital and in the community
ABOUT THE ROLE
As a dietitian within the Diabetes Service you will be involved in the planning, delivery and evaluation of teaching programmes for other health professionals to ensure that they are able to provide evidence based practice and information for people across the lifespan with diabetes.
As the Diabetes Service has a significant commitment to delivering quality education programs to other health professionals, it is essential that you are able to do this confidently.
This is a is a full-time position.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
To work in this role you will need to be a NZ Registered Dietitian with a current annual practicing certificate (with prescribing endorsement).
