Ngaakau Tapatahi Trust provides corporate support including Human Resource management to Ngaa Ringa Awhina, a Kaupapa Maaori Adult and Youth Forensic Community Based service in the Midland Region. We are currently recruiting on behalf of Ngaa Ringa Awhina for the role of:

Te Ara Kaupare Youth Forensic Service

The successful applicants will have a strong interest in working with youth and will provide services to Ngaa Ringa Awhina Youth Forensic Services under a New Graduate Programme. Key responsibilities are to fulfil generic and discipline-specific specialist mental health assessment and potential treatment in relation to the bio-psychosocial well-being of whaanau with an identified psychiatric illness via a Court Liaison process of referral.
The successful applicants will have a professional approach and work collaboratively with other personnel to ensure the best possible support is provided for service users. The successful applicants will exhibit high personal and proficient standards in accordance with professional best practice, and would suit confident communicators who can accurately record their work in a clinical management system. The role would have strong senior nursing oversight and supervision to train the successful applicants in the specialist area of forensic nursing. The role is predominantly based in the community but there is opportunity to expand your knowledge in a sub-acute in-patient setting as part of our New Graduate Programme. We are a kaupapa Maaori service who believes that having a diverse work force allows us to support individuals and their families/whanau. The ability to speak Te Reo is not a prerequisite and you may not have experience in a kaupapa Maori environment but if you have a desire to understand and support Tikanga Maori this may offer you an opportunity to grow and be nurtured within a Kaupapa Maaori environment.
WHAT YOU MUST HAVE:
- Registered with NZ Nursing Council
- Current Annual Practising Certificate
Those employed by Ngaakau Tapatahi:
- Must comply with the requirements of the Vulnerable Children’s Act 2014 in full
- Have a clean Police Vetting record, this will include any charges under the * Criminal records (Clean Slate ) Act 2004
- Hold a current, clean full New Zealand Driver’s License, as driving is a requirement of this position.
