Permanent, part time (28 - 32 hours p/w)
We are looking for an enthusiastic health promotion officer to join our Public Health team in Whanganui.
The successful applicant will work to develop and implement collaborative strategies that influence and lead to healthy long-term community changes with key focus on unintentional injury prevention.
This exciting role is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating population focused activities associated with regional injury prevention strategies, leading local and national campaigns and building strong relationships with wider community stakeholders who engage directly with a safer community vision.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for healthy living and community wellbeing, be a strong team player with a collaborative working style and have the ability to work with a variety of intersectoral groups.
Skills and Experience:
- A commitment to the Treaty of Waitangi and to working in a bi-cultural manner
- Experience and skills in health promotion
- A tertiary qualification in public health or health promotion
- Demonstrate proven leadership skills in bringing stakeholders together
- Project management skills, experience and participation in community based projects
- Excellent written and communication skills
A broad knowledge and thorough understanding of public health issues across the Whanganui District Health Board region with connections into a variety of health and social services would be advantageous.
