Are you an enthusiastic and experienced counselling professional?
Family Action is a leading provider of social services in West Auckland, specialising in family and sexual harm, abuse and trauma counselling, women's refuge and programmes for vulnerable children/youth.
We have a vacancy for a Counsellor to specialise in group and individual counselling support for children, young people and families who have experienced family or sexual violence, trauma or abuse.
The position is:
- Negotiable hours Monday to Friday with some flexibility to meet client needs
- Based in Henderson, with some group work in schools in the Auckland Region
The role includes:
- Providing Counselling / therapy in a professional, ethical and client focused manner
- Delivering group and individual youth programmes
- Delivering counselling to children and families
- Delivering a quality service to youth and families that ensures their safety needs are met
The ideal candidate must be registered with an appropriate professional body and have experience working family and sexual harm, abuse and trauma.
We are looking for someone with the following skill set:
- Tertiary qualified either as a Counsellor or Therapist
- Experience working with children, young people and families
- Must be currently or able to register with appropriate professional body.
- Committed to the Treaty of Waitangi
- An innovative thinker with a passion for this work
- Ability to work with Police, medical personnel and other professionals
- Be comfortable working with Family and Sexual Violence
- Organised, resilient and have excellent non-judgmental communication skills
- Flexibility to work within a very busy agency
- Be able to complete necessary administration on a database for your client and complete a variety of administrative processes to meet agency contractual requirements.
