We have a vacancy within our Rheumatic Fever Prevention (Mana Kidz) Team for a Health Support Worker to work within 2 schools.

East Tamaki Healthcare (ETHC) have a long tradition of providing quality medical care in convenient locations each year for thousands of patients in the Auckland region though our network of clinics.

ETHC also works within the school community with the aim of reducing Rheumatic Fever and skin infections for primary school students. This is done in a variety of settings (schools, community and home visits for follow ups) and involve some clinical interaction, follow up and health promotion activities.  Work will be undertaken within a team and within the families / whanau / fono of the children attending school.

Requirements for the role:

  • Good communication skills
  • Full New Zealand Drivers licence and car
  • Good level of spoken and written English
  • Able to speak in pacific languages
  • Experience or desire to work within South Auckland communities
  • Confidence of speaking to families and to community groups
  • Understanding of working with children – growth and development
  • Able to work well in a team environment
  • Ability to thrive on the challenge within primary healthcare
  • Willing to do home visits within South Auckland communities
  • Computer literate
  • Legal right to work in New Zealand
