The role

Housing New Zealand's vision is 'building lives and communities by housing New Zealanders'. To help achieve this, we require a Payroll Advisor to join our central Wellington based team. In this role you will join a team with responsibility for administering the payroll function for all Housing New Zealand employees ensuring they are paid in a timely and accurate manner whilst also providing advisory support to the organisation.

In this role you will also provide expertise and support for system developments and testing, identifying opportunities to improve the experience of end-users through our self-service portal as well as producing reporting as necessary.

What you'll need to bring:

  • A relevant qualification or equivalent years of experience
  • Knowledge and experience in the Jade Star payroll system or similar
  • Understanding of New Zealand legislation relevant to Payroll including Holidays Act, Wages Protection Act
  • Basic understanding of financial accounting
  • Demonstrated organisational skills with proven ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
  • Awareness of sensitivities and confidential nature of the HR work environment
  • Close attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Windows environment (Advanced in Excel)
