Liggins Institute
The Liggins Institute at the University of Auckland has an exciting opportunity for a Research Doctor to join their busy Follow-Up Studies team.
This role will work in the LiFEPATH group - a collegial, multidisciplinary team including scientists and clinicians, conducting translational research that examines clinical problems at a molecular level through whole animal physiology to clinical trial and application.
Our research programme focuses on how maternal, foetal and neonatal nutrition and the intrauterine environment affect foetal and postnatal growth, childhood development and lifelong health.
The opportunity:
- In this position, you'll undertake follow-up assessments (training provided), including anthropometric measurements, developmental, visual and neurological assessments
- You'll support tracing and recruiting of study participants
- You'll be responsible for conducting home visits all across New Zealand
- You'll establish relationships and build trust with families to facilitate follow-up appointments
- In addition, you'll review data collected to ensure it has been accurately scored and recorded and sent to the Data Management team in a timely and confidential manner
Who are we looking for?:
- The successful candidate will hold a relevant tertiary qualification as a medical doctor. Registration to practice is preferred, but not essential
- You will have a caring and professional manner when communicating with families and staff. Experience working with children and young families, postgraduate experience in clinical assessment of children and developmental assessment would be a distinct advantage
- You will have a flexible approach to working as part of a team with diverse skills
- A current NZ driver's licence is essential, as is a willingness to work flexible hours including some Saturdays
This position is available on a part-time basis of 15 hours per week (to be worked flexibly), for a fixed-term period of one year. Professional Staff Level 5.
