The Faculty of Engineering at the Universty of Auckland offers a diverse and active community for research at postgraduate level and above. We have an exciting opportunity for a Research Programme Manager to join us on a full-time, permanent basis. This role provides support for the implementation of the Faculty's strategic plan and associated research initiatives. Through close collaboration with Uniservices and our researchers, you will ensure a thorough knowledge of funder expectations are articulated into research outcomes.

Key accountabilities:

  • Contribute to research planning and strategy in relevant areas
  • Maintain key relationships to support maximising opportunities and outputs to ensure client/ funder expectations are known and being met
  • Manage the provision of operational and administrative research support assistance to allocated researchers, including project management, pre and post-award advice and support, and other operational specialist deliverables as identified
  • Provide Research Services staff clear direction and ensure they understand expectations and their contribution towards the team and Faculty strategic goals.
  • Provide effective and efficient people management, direction and mentoring
  • Manage the financial and operational performance of projects, proactively tracking milestones, ethics applications, and expenditure to budget, reforecasting of project budget, and performance reports

Our ideal candidate has:

  • a Bachelor's degree or relevant tertiary qualification
  • ideally, at least five years' experience in a research intensive environment or managing similar research projects.
  • understanding of grant application process including client/funder guidelines
  • experience in a complex, research-intensive organisation and have strong relationship building and stakeholder engagement skills.
