About the branch:

The Technology Operations Team, as part of the ICT Services, Platforms & Operations branch, was established in 2017 and sits within the Corporate, Governance and Information Group (CGI). The ICT Services, Platforms & Operations branch is responsible for ensuring our vendors and internal ICT support teams deliver a full range of ICT services to our business.

 

About the role:

The Principal Advisor Technology Operations and Risk is a role that reports to the Manager Technology Operations within the ICT Services Platforms & Operations branch. 

In this role you will primarily be responsible for supporting the successful operation and continuous improvement of MBIE's ICT services. You will work closely with the vendor management team and client engagement team within MBIE ICT Operations, vendor community, and suppliers to ensure service quality is maintained according to agreed service expectations including on a 7x 24 basis. 

You will be a natural relationship manager, an analytical thinker, and able to work strategically and tactically with all areas of the business. You will have an ability to engage and support staff to help further strengthen understanding and awareness across MBIE. You will also have a commitment to innovation and continuous improvement and generating new ideas and ways of doing things.

You will ensure that MBIE ICT effectively manages and provides support on those activities that ICT have not outsourced. You will also provide capacity to deal with the inevitable 'extras' that come up irrespective of the multisource outsourced model.

You will part of a team of three who share this responsibility and will be the primary operational contact for allocated business units.

Skills and Experience:

We are keen to hear from you if you have:

  • Extensive experience in governance of ICT Operational deliverables and processes.
  • ITIL qualifications and experience is preferred 
  • A Self-starter who is highly motivated to succeed
  • Previous public sector experience is preferred but not essential
  • An ability to convey content in a jargon free way that engages and meets the needs of the audience
  • A proven ability to quickly establish and build strong working relationships and to develop trust and credibility with senior managers, staff and key internal and external stakeholders
  • A proactive, can-do attitude with a high level of initiative, sound judgement and discretion
  • Exceptional teamwork and collaborative abilities and a willingness to share knowledge and expertise with others
  • Highly developed communication and writing skills 
  • A strong customer focus.
