The Role: What This Opportunity's All About

The IDPH Service CDHB is seeking 3x innovative and enthusiastic Registered Nurses with highly developed interpersonal skills and a commitment to excellence, to work within our Assessment Rehabilitation team within our IDPH Specialist Mental Health Services.

The unit is based at Hillmorton Hospital and work with People who have an intellectual disability and present with complex and challenging behaviours. We are offering you the opportunity to join us and work as part of a dynamic and innovative team of health professionals, providing creative care to clients with challenging behaviours. Your ability to form effective relationships and communicate across all levels is essential. Some of our clients may have been in contact with the justice service, therefore, a focus on risk assessment and the ability to provide a safe environment, while maximising independence is an essential part of this position.

Ideally you will have experience working with Intellectual Disability, however candidates with an interest in the area and motivation to learn new skills would also be considered. We are committed to supporting you in your professional development and have opportunities for continuing education.

Working:

Flexibility and adaptability are essential as hours of work will be as per rotating roster and weekend work will be a requirement.

Skills and Requirements:

  • Current registration and APC with the New Zealand Nursing Council with a scope of practice in the field of Intellectual Disability.
  • Responsible and mature attitude.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a supportive team.
  • Ideally you will have experience working with Intellectual Disability, however, candidates with an interest in the area and motivation to learn new skills would also be considered.
  • A current NZ Driving Licence

Working:

Ability to work all shifts on a rotating roster including night shifts is a requirement for this role.

Skills & Experience:

You will be a NZ Enrolled Nurse with a current practicing certificate

Responsible and mature attitude with the ability to be adaptable, flexible and solution focused.

Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a supportive team.

Demonstrated ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively with other professionals.
