This is a fixed-term role for six (6) months.

 

We are looking for three enthusiastic Rangers to join our Recreation/Historic Team in the Fiordland National Park over the 2018/2019 summer season. If you enjoy working in the outdoors, meeting new people and don't mind getting your feet wet then apply now!

 

Te Anau is situated in Southland and borders the Fiordland National Park.  It has several Frontcountry day visitor sites and amenities, campsites, carparks and viewpoints, as well as 3 iconic Great Walks, short walks and access to multiday walks.

 

You will be working on track maintenance of the Fiordland National Park tracks to ensure that they are kept to a high standard and in accordance with Department standards. 

 

This is a multi functional role; ensuring one of the highest used sectors of Fiordland National Park is maintained.

 

We would love to hear from you if you have:

  • An understanding and appreciation of conservation values in New Zealand and an ability to communicate these to a wide range of people
  • That ‘willing to go the extra mile', ‘can do' attitude
  • The practical know-how to make something out of nothing
  • A team player attitude who works well under pressure
  • A current First Aid certificate and valid Driver's License.
  • Backcountry field experience and a high level of physical fitness
  • Experience with tractors, diggers and other machinery would be an advantage

 

This position will work on a roster system and applicants must be available to complete the full period of employment from 6 November 2018 to 30 April 2019.

 

Eligibility to work in New Zealand is mandatory, including a valid work visa covering the whole period of employment if applying internationally.
