THE OPPORTUNITY

Auckland has secured the right to be the host city for the 36th Americas Cup. As part of the commitments to being a host city the Auckland Council family and Crown agencies have agreed to work closely with America’s Cup Event Limited (ACE) to deliver the event.

ATEED are seeking to appoint a Senior Project Manager to work as part of a small team leading ATEED and wider Auckland Council input to the 36th Americas Cup event. ATEED is tasked with coordinating the event related work programme for Auckland to prepare for the 36th America’s Cup and the agreed approach is to appoint a small number of staff dedicated to the project to coordinate efforts across ATEED and the Council family.

ABOUT YOU

The Senior Project Manager will support the delivery of the 36th Americas Cup event, across Emirates Team New Zealand (ETNZ) and its event company Americas Cup Event Ltd. (ACE), ATEED, CCO and council staff and external stakeholders, consultants and contractors, through the application of best practice project management principles, techniques and systems.

Auckland’s Americas Cup Event programme covers a number of areas and projects, including those which are lead from within the ATEED Major Events team, across ATEED, across the Auckland Council family and by ACE and ETNZ. The Senior Project Manager will coordinate these workstreams and ensure that ATEED and the wider Council family meet their contractual obligations under the Host Venue Agreement while maximising the positive impacts of the event for Auckland.

  • Lead specific project teams and/or provide project management functions as part of a larger team on more complex inter-agency projects
  • Ensure that projects comply with all council’s policies, frameworks and procedures. 
  • Manage and identify risks across the programme and project
  • Maintain timelines for  reporting execution plans

The successful candidate will be educated to degree level and have significant experience in managing complex programmes and projects with at least 8 – 10 years’ experience

Direct experience of events is essential as are excellent communication skills and high level organisational skills.

You will need to be skilled in stakeholder engagement, have good attention to detail and be able to work flexibly in a fast paced and changing environment.
