The Role: What This Opportunity's All About

Are you a newly graduated Midwife looking for a supportive teaching environment in which to gain clinical skills and consolidate your recent Bachelor of Midwifery Degree?

  • Christchurch Women's Hospital: One year Graduate Midwifery Programme, 0.8FTE (32hours per week)
  • Commencing January 2019
  • Working rostered shifts to suit service requirements

Christchurch Women's Hospital, a specialised maternity service based in central Christchurch, is seeking Newly Registered Midwives to work within our large multidisciplinary team of health professionals as part of our new graduate program. Our New Graduate midwifery program offers you professional development opportunities and enables you to develop your midwifery skills within a supportive environment whilst working across our Birthing suite, the Antenatal/Postnatal ward in our maternity services and some time spent at one of our midwifery led units. Join us and embrace evidence based practice to provide safe, high quality midwifery care and celebrate the key role midwives have in partnership with women to promote maternal and infant health and wellbeing.

To be eligible for these opportunities, you will be a 3rd year midwifery student who will be registered before February 2019.

Working rostered shifts to suit service requirements.

Skills and Experience:

Motivated and flexible self-starter with the ability to work both in a team and autonomously.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to engage well with families
  • Effective problem solving and decision making skills
  • A desire to start your midwifery career working with women and their families mainly in a tertiary setting
  • A commitment to providing high standards of maternity care within our service
