Auckland has recently joined the international Vision Zero movement - meaning no loss of life is acceptable on our streets. Instead, we can make our streets safe and healthy places that actually add valuable life years to Aucklanders. Our Walking, Cycling & Safety unit are responsible for delivering this safe & healthy mobility for schools and communities, through engineering and behaviour change programmes. This evidence-based and values-driven approach also increases walking, cycling and public transport use. We now have a vacancy for someone to provide the strategic direction and evaluation of these innovative programmes and projects.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Senior Schools & Community Advisor is responsible for the strategic direction of the School Travelwise and Safer Communities programmes using the new Vision Zero approach. They will measure and evaluate programme outcomes, prioritise programme delivery, and work with a number of different stakeholders including internal AT staff, Schools, Local Boards and Community Groups, and other local and national government organisations.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
We are looking for strategic thinker with a methodical approach and strong written and verbal communications skills. You will have three years of experience in strategy, policy, programme or community development with a relevant tertiary qualification and strong research and analysis skills as you provide valuable insights into the efficacy of our programmes. You will be able to take a "bigger picture" approach and manage complexity as you influence various levels of internal and external stakeholders towards improved outcomes.The position will ideally suit a flexible and collaborative person that thrives under pressure and enjoys a dynamic values-based team environment. Strong communication, influencing and relationship management skills are essential, as are problem solving skills and the ability to drive a strong customer focus.
