“Health and Safety isn’t separate from our business. It’s central to everything we do in delivering our excellent services and working safely for our visitors and our people” – Mayor Phil Goff and Chief Executive Stephen Town.

The opportunity

Here at Auckland Council, we put the safety and wellbeing of our people and the people of Auckland first.  Moving towards becoming a leading organisation in health, safety and wellbeing by 2020, you’ll be part of an innovative team that views how we look after our people as more than just compliance.

In this two-year programme you’ll gain exposure to all aspects of health, safety and wellbeing within our organisation. Once you’ve built a strong foundation, you’ll also have the opportunity to rotate into one of our safety-sensitive operational business areas to gain an understanding how health and safety is implemented on a day-to-day basis. We’ll even help you work towards attaining the NEBOSH International Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety.

About you

To be eligible to apply, you must have the following:

  • Be eligible to work in New Zealand, or be eligible to apply for a Post-Study Work Visa
  • A relevant Diploma, Bachelor degree or postgraduate qualification obtained in the last two years, or be a current student and graduating before the end of January 2018.

Ideally, we are looking for graduates with a tertiary qualification in a relevant subject, such as human behaviour, psychology or health and safety. Please note that other people related disciplines will also be considered.

Applications for the 2019 Auckland Council Graduate Programme close on Sunday 29th of July. The online application includes job specific questions to help you show us how awesome you are.

Please note that applications will be reviewed only after the closing date.  If you are suitable for the programme, we may have a quick discussion with you, which would take place between the 30th of July and the 10th of August.
