UniServices together with the CMHSE at the University of Auckland are now seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Simulation Technician to assist with the development, support and implementation of the national NetworkZ program.

NetworkZ is an ACC funded, simulation-based team training program for surgical teams across all of New Zealand. The Simulation Technician will have particular responsibilities for the technical delivery of the simulation-training, including supporting the development of new simulation technicians in the local DHBs.

During the development of simulations, the role will include input into the scenario, developing necessary resources, coordinating the design and development of the surgical models for the program with input from rest of team, simulator programming, moulage, integration with manikin, and piloting the scenarios.

The Simulation Technician is responsible for supporting the technical activities at the DHBs throughout the implementation phase. This includes guiding the setups, local resource development and assessing the required training associated with the NetworkZ online technical training. The role does involve some travel to the DHBs across New Zealand.

They will also be responsible for preparing and maintaining the NetworkZ technical online resources to a high standard for education/ training activities.

There is opportunity for growth of the role with the right candidate, working together with the team to develop the programme.

To be considered for this role, you must have the following:

  • A background in simulation and/ or clinical engineering or operating room experience would be a substantial advantage
  • Tertiary qualification in a health science or equivalent
  • Experience of having worked in a surgical setting
  • Commitment to enhancement of quality and safety in healthcare
  • Proficient computer literacy in Microsoft Office suite

This is a 2.5 year fixed-term contract, based at the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences.
