Detail information about job Senior Adviser / Adviser. Terms and conditions vacancy
Fixed term or Secondment until 30 June 2019
- Are you interested in playing a key role in an area of MPI with significant public interest?
- Are you looking for fast paced, meaningful work supporting activities as a result of our response operations?
At MPI, our Compensation team provides a critical function supporting activities that arise from the exercise of powers by MPI in biosecurity responses, where people and businesses have suffered a loss as a result. For the past year we have been responding to several significant events, the most recent being the response for Mycoplasma bovis. You may already be familiar with the Government's recent decision to attempt a phased approach to eradication, and so we are growing our capacity to respond to the increasing number of compensation claims.
We are now looking for either Senior Advisers or Advisers to join our team who will be responsible for planning, leading, managing and delivering on a work programme to support our compensation team with process improvements, communications, internal advice and analysis.
About the Compensation Team
MPI works with all New Zealanders to control and eradicate unwanted pests and diseases to help protect and grow New Zealand. Sometimes the control and eradication activities undertaken within biosecurity responses causes financial loss to individuals and businesses. Under the Biosecurity Act 1993, businesses and individuals may be able to claim compensation for those losses caused by MPI's exercise of powers.
About the Role
As a Senior Adviser/Adviser you will contribute to the realisation of compensation and delivery of team outcomes. You will influence the delivery and achievement of MPI's compensation outcomes by providing high quality, well researched and reasoned advice across the full spectrum of the compensation plans, activities, products and initiatives. As an example, we are looking to fully revise our compensation team standard operating policies and procedures to ensure we are delivering the most effective and efficient service to our claimants. You will play a critically important role in this key work programme.
As an Adviser you will have 2-5 years in a relevant technical or professional role, enjoy working as part of a team and with internal stakeholders.
As a Senior Adviser you will have 5-10 years in a relevant technical or professional role coupled with successful experience in project planning, coordinating across teams, implementing, monitoring, risk mitigation, on time delivery and reporting to diverse audiences.
Experience in working with New Zealand central and or local government processes is essential for both roles.
We are looking for people to start as soon as possible. Remuneration will depend on relevant skills, qualifications and experience.
This is a full time position based in our offices in Wellington. Familiarity with government processes, and the machinery of government is useful but not necessary.
If this sounds like you, then apply online and submit your covering letter and CV.
