The Policy group are building their capability across all their current teams and will ultimately be looking to create a new fourth policy team in order to deliver a large and ambitious work programme.
The work
Under the current Government, the policy work of Oranga Tamariki is going in a new and exciting direction. With line of sight from the Minister to the front line services, it’s critical that the work stemming from the policy group is suited to both audiences. They take a holistic view and their work covers all elements of a child’s care and wellbeing from the time they are first referred to Oranga Tamariki until they are transitioning and being supported out of care. The work the policy group does has a real and practical impact with the focus on making implementable policy.
As well as providing primary policy advice, the group also feeds into the policy work of many other agencies, so the opportunity to collaborate across the public sector is considerable.
About the role:
Oranga Tamariki is looking for four high performing Senior Analysts with well-developed policy skills to join their growing policy team. You will work closely with Oranga Tamariki’s highly regarded Analytics team in order to formulate robust and evidence based policy advice. The policy work of Oranga Tamariki intersects with multiple agencies and therefore provides excellent opportunities for Senior Policy Analysts who enjoy cross agency policy projects. Day to day you will be;
- Providing high quality policy advice and analysis
- Leading complex policy projects
- Taking a leading role in relationships with external stakeholders
- Representing the Ministry at inter-departmental working groups
- Mentoring other members of the policy team
About you:
You will have a proven track record of delivering high quality policy advice in different environments. You are an excellent thinker and writer, and will challenge the status quo. Naturally collaborative you will enjoy working with a diverse range of stakeholders to make a real difference. There is a significant work programme at Oranga Tamariki that will offer opportunities for Senior Analysts who are looking to develop their legislative or regulatory policy skills. Although you may not have previous social policy experience you will relish the opportunity to drive and shape significant changes to the wellbeing of tamariki in New Zealand.
