The opportunity

Te Kura Tawhiti / Research Heritage & Central Library ensure that Auckland’s unique and diverse stories are shared and celebrated, deliver the special destination of the Central Library with innovative services, programmes and exhibitions and look after the records and archives of Auckland Council.  In this programme you will work with and across these teams to develop and deliver ambitious plans, activities and communications which extend the reach of these services and collections. In this two-year programme, you'll have the opportunity to rotate through key teams within the Libraries & Information department which could include Digital Solutions & Innovation (including web & digital and social media teams), Service Capability, Content & Access and Community Library teams and other Council departments.

About you

To be eligible to apply, you must have the following:

  • Be eligible to work in New Zealand, or be eligible to apply for a Post-Study Work Visa
  • A relevant Diploma, Bachelor degree or postgraduate qualification obtained in the last two years, or be a current student and graduating before the end of January 2019.

This graduate programme is a unique opportunity to gain exposure and experience in a dynamic field, within a team focused on achieving our vision: for Auckland to be a world-class city. We are looking for graduates with preferably a qualification in communication, marketing, publicity, museum practices (museology), management, arts and culture or events management.

You’ll be supported every step of the way with a support team who want you to succeed  including a mentor, graduate liaison, and graduate network.  The graduate programme is typically made up of four, six-month rotations across a number of business areas, giving you accelerated learning and development, all whilst helping to make Auckland a world-class city.
