Fire and Emergency New Zealand is a Crown Entity established on 1 July 2017 under the Fire and Emergency New Zealand Act 2017 which involved the amalgamation of 40+ entities. The next phase for our organisation is integrating our services and operations and we have a significant integration and change management programme in place.

Our leaders are at the forefront of this change and we want to ensure that they are appropriately supported to undertake their important role in the months ahead.

As part of this support we have created five fixed term Regional Implementation Coordination roles (RICs) who will work with Regional Leadership Teams (RLTs) and leaders across each region.

RICs will work with a RLTs to design and implement a regional approach to preparing and supporting people across the region for change. The initial focus will be on working with RLTs to prepare and support their teams through the impending consultation on our new Operating Model which will commence in August 2018. RLTs will be able to access support from the Integration Team based in Wellington and RICs will be the key conduit between RLTs and the Integration Team.

As a RIC your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the development of a regional plan to prepare for and engage effectively in consultation and/or change processes
  • Working with the RLT and the Integration Team to put the regional plans into action
  • Identifying and providing support to leaders, and/or facilitate support for leaders to enable them to lead their people during times of change
  • Being a key communicator to advocate and promote involvement of people in consultation and change processes

To be successful in this role you will need to have strong leadership and management skills and be credible and respected across diverse groups and individuals. Your energy and enthusiasm for the changes ahead combined with your empathetic approach will enable you to support leaders across the region.
