Waikato Regional Council owns and maintains $580M of infrastructure assets and is currently looking for an experienced work planner to join our busy Integrated Catchment Management team, who look after the Flood Protection and Drainage Assets across the Waikato and Hauraki regions. 

Reporting to the Asset Manager, this new role will be responsible for co-ordinating asset management planning processes. This includes:
•Planning of new and on-going capital and complex maintenance projects for execution by operations work supervisors
•Development and administration of Works Order system
•Developing maintenance workflow processes and good working relationships with the work supervisors
•Developing and providing visibility of future works programmes to management and work supervisors
•Reporting on status of maintenance and capital renewals works programmes to committees
•Analysis of historic maintenance costs and forecasting future programme requirements
•Provision of a long term, strategic focus to the programming of asset maintenance and capital works

This is a new role for the council, and as such the successful candidate will be involved with both the selection and development of a new CMMS system to enable more efficient and effective works planning. It is essential you have previous experience working as a maintenance or capital works planner as you will be developing many of the planning processes that will be used into the future. We are looking for someone who is detail oriented, as they must develop detailed work plans that include procedures, standards, and other information for maintenance programs.

In this role you will be working on a wide range of civil and environmental engineering projects including flood and erosion control, land drainage pumping systems, drainage pipe and outlet structures, river stopbank stability and protection works. 

This is a great opportunity to take responsibility for the planning of specific capital and maintenance projects including stopbank, pump station, drainage system, and river management works. 

A relevant engineering qualification is desired however other relevant qualifications will be considered. Technical experience planning either capital or maintenance works is essential. Experience in project and contract management is good.
