We have an opportunity for a switched on team player to provide coordination and support services to the team. We’re seeking an experienced person with strong office skills, a ‘can do’ attitude and someone who is enthusiastic about providing support in the areas of Māori Policy and Community Engagement.  The incumbent is currently on extended leave, and the team requires continuity of support.  An immediate start date is desirable. 

About us

The Bay of Plenty Regional Council is responsible for the sustainable management of the region's natural resources. We look after important functions relating to environmental protection and enhancement, safety and resilience, regional development including coordination of the regional land transport plan, and delivery of public transport. This particular position is in the Kotahitanga team. 

The Kotahitanga team is made up of two units - Māori Policy and Community Engagement. The areas of activity are wide ranging and include supporting: youth programmes, environmental projects, Treaty settlements, resource consents, planning and policy programmes. 

Reporting to the Strategic Engagement Manager, you are likely to have:

* Experience in Microsoft programmes
* Ability to multi task and provide a wide range of support to the Kotahitanga team (Māori Policy and Community Engagement)
* Confidence to engage and communicate with Māori 
* Ability to proof read, edit and summarise reports
* Excellent time management and work prioritisation
* Knowledge and appreciation of Tikanga and Te Reo

This is a fixed term full time position for an initial two months which will be reviewed on a monthly basis. The position is based in Whakatāne.
