  • We have two fantastic opportunities to be part of growing conservation

We have two fantastic opportunities to be part of growing conservation across New Zealand through large scale, high impact partnerships.

The Department of Conservation has a grand vision - New Zealand is the greatest living space on earth. Building and nurturing partnerships is a big part of our efforts to make conservation a cornerstone of New Zealand values.

In the role of Director, Partnerships you will report to the Deputy Director-General, Partnerships and lead a small team who work flexibly across New Zealand on partnerships projects to deliver ‘step-change' conservation growth.

Current focus areas for our partnerships work are:

  • Protecting New Zealand's natural heritage by building alliances and attracting new investment through landscape scale restoration projects
  • Mainstream conservation through connecting new audiences with our nature
  • Growing conservation by supporting community conservation efforts.

To be successful in this role you will be a highly skilled strategic leader, able to lead effectively in circumstances of complexity and ambiguity and able to demonstrate whole of system thinking.

You will have superb relationship skills and be capable of operating with multiple partners in a co-design environment. An understanding and knowledge of conservation management work or experience in a relevant sector would be an advantage but is not essential.

The preferred location for the second vacancy is Taupo however other provincial centres in the North Island below Auckland and above Wellington will be considered.

Applicants must be New Zealand citizens or residents.

Please apply online. Applications must include a cover letter, CV and evidence of the required capabilities as per the role description. To view a copy of the role description, click the apply button.

For any queries, please contact Jan Esquilant, [email protected], or telephone 027 404 9807 quoting vacancy 300/1000 (Auckland) or 300/2000 (Central North Island).

Applications close at 5pm on Friday, 27 July 2018.

DOC is committed to a diverse workforce that represents the communities we serve, and to creating an inclusive workplace culture.
