About MSD
The Ministry of Social Development (MSD) is the lead agency for the social sector. MSD provides policy advice, and delivers social services and assistance to young people, working age people, older people, and families, whānau and communities. We work directly with New Zealanders of all ages to improve their social wellbeing.
About our Team
The EPMO enables the Ministry to look holistically across all projects and programmes to undertake decision-making that can’t be made when they are looked at in isolation. We provide P3M3 leadership to senior managers, SROs/Sponsors and practitioners across the Ministry. We have quickly established a good reputation within the Ministry for providing practical, pragmatic and on-point advice and guidance that contributes to the success of our project portfolio.
About the Role
As a Senior Advisor you will be responsible for providing thought leadership to the Ministry regarding best practice in project, programme and portfolio management.
Key responsibilities include:
- review and development of project, programme and portfolio management processes to form the Ministry’s project, programme and portfolio management (P3M) framework
- providing analysis and advice to key stakeholders to support their decision-making in relation to programmes of work
- delivering efficient and effective programme and project management practice support.
Skills and Experience
To be successful in the role you will need:
- demonstrated experience working in a (e)PMO or large, complex programme and a solid understanding of project and programme lifecycles
- demonstrated ability to assess projects and programmes for ability to deliver against defined business cases and plans, including the provision of formal analysis
- experience with analytical or other similar work that requires the distillation of data into information
- strong influencing and relationship management skills and be able to quickly establish credibility and trust
- excellent verbal and written communication skills, with good attention to detail.
