This is a fixed term role for five (5) years.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the initial stages of a project at the forefront of international island conservation. The role is with a DOC project team investigating feasibility and undertaking initial planning for a project to eradicate remaining mammalian pests (pigs, cats and mice) from Auckland Island (465 km south of Bluff) in New Zealand's World Heritage listed subantarctic region.
The Department of Conservation is seeking a talented and experienced Project Coordinator to support the Project Manager. The role will contribute significantly to the success of the project by maintaining project management systems including ongoing scheduling, risk, issues, change, dependency, quality, communications and contract controls management and status reporting.
The ambitious project is nationally significant and will have tangible benefits for unique wildlife on a large-scale. The project is aligned with the Predator Free New Zealand initiative's interim goal for ‘Eradication of predators from New Zealand's Island Nature Reserves by 2025'. Success will be dependent on quality planning and delivery through teamwork.
The successful applicant will be a competent user of Microsoft Project and project management tools. You will be adaptable and motivated with proven performance in project management or coordination, with skills in financial reporting. You will be well organised with excellent communications skills and attention to detail.
Eligibility to work in New Zealand is mandatory, including a valid work visa covering the whole period of employment if applying internationally.
