Detail information about job Infrastructure Compliance Planner. Terms and conditions vacancy

The Far North District Council is a respected and trusted organisation that is committed to working with the community, elected members and community boards to enable and deliver the best outcomes for the region

We are committed to delivering excellence by being a high performing organisation, and are embarking on a business refocus and transformation to realise this.  At the heart of this is embedding our values of ‘integrity, manaakitanga and professionalism’.  We’re looking for those people with the talent, enthusiasm and commitment to be a part of our high performance journey.

The Infrastructure and Asset Management team is a dedicated group of professionals focused on achieving affordable council infrastructure to meet the needs of our communities and the environment – now and into the future.  The team’s new structure includes a role focused on compliance to ensure we meet the expectations of our regulators and our communities.

This is a newly created two-year fixed term position aimed at implementing a robust compliance management system and improving the culture of compliance within the Infrastructure and Asset Management (IAM) Group.

As the Infrastructure Compliance Planner you will:

  • manage a database of consents which enable us to deliver services such as roading, community facilities, and Three Waters (potable, waste and storm water), and
  • lead and manage response plans in the event of enforcement action; calling on the relationships you have built to develop exceptional and pragmatic solutions, and
  • assist the various teams within IAM to understand their obligations in relation to the Resource Management Act.

Maybe you are an experienced and confident planner looking to apply resource management and learn about the challenges that infrastructure providers face complying with resource consents.  Perhaps you are a skilled Environmental Monitoring or Compliance Officer looking to progress your career and grow your understanding of resource management. Or are you an outgoing engineer with experience in local government looking for an opportunity to immerse yourself in resource management to broaden your skill set?  Resource management can look like a dark art to some engineers but once you see the light you’ll have the skills to take on any task.  No matter what your previous title was you will have come from a background requiring exceptional organisational skills and you will have the ability to create and implement structured working under your own initiative.

This is a rare opportunity to gain experience working alongside skilled roading, community facility, and three waters providers; gaining insight into real life problems and technical solutions.  This unique opening will allow you to use your excellent communication and persuasion skills to improve compliance across the team.

On top of the exciting opportunity this role presents, you get to be based in the beautiful far north. The ‘winterless north’ is the ideal place to enjoy the beaches forests and moderate climate, to bring up a family, or simply to make an indelible positive impact for our communities.
