Kick start your career in planning!

E te tini, e te rahi – aro mai ki tēnei kaupapa

Are you an enthusiastic graduate looking for the opportunity to launch your career in planning?

We’re looking for someone who is excited about the opportunity to take advantage of ongoing training, mentoring and career development during a long-term commitment at Masterton District Council.

Located in Masterton in the beautiful Wairarapa and in close proximity to Wellington, you will be able to embrace the work-life balance on offer in this region with a thriving local council.

We have a great team of really experienced people, so we want someone who is hungry to learn.  Of course there are always those routine tasks that have to be completed, but each day will be unique in some way and, by its very nature, this job will challenge you with its variety and fast pace.

Our planning team is small, so joining the team provides a great opportunity to learn all facets of resource planning, from processing of resource consents to supporting the administration of our combined district plan. We have a passion for providing advice and support in a friendly, professional way that enables our district to grow and thrive sustainably. The right person for this job will be keen to work in this type of environment.

This permanent, full-time position will suit either a recent graduate or a person with 1-2 years’ experience. This job needs both people and technical skills - your strong communication skills will mean you’re comfortable working with our customers and community. You will balance this with the attention to detail that ensures the technical work you carry out is accurate and within appropriate timeframes.

If you have the skills and experience we are looking for, we would love to hear from you.  You can contact Vicki McLachlan, Human Resources Manager, for a confidential chat on 06 3706267, or send us your application (CV and covering letter) today to [email protected]

A job description is available for download form the Masterton District Council website.

Applications close 3rd August 2018 5pm and applicants must have the right to work in New Zealand.

Masterton District Council has a policy of Equal Employment Opportunity.
