- We are seeking a Ranger to join our team over the summer period
- This is a fixed term role for 21 weeks
This is a fixed term role from 26 November 2018 to 18 April 2019.

We have a fixed term temporary Ranger position available at Welcome Flat Hut with duties including:
- Track maintenance
- Hut maintenance
- Hut and toilet cleaning
- Visitor management and fee collection
- Working with volunteers
Skills and experience required:
- Able to communicate well in English
- Enjoy interacting with people from all over the world
- Experience in the New Zealand outdoors
- First aid training essential
The position is based at Welcome Flat Hut in the Copland Valley. Welcome Flat Hut has its own wardens' quarters - including 4 beds, wet-back stove, hot shower and kitchen facility. These will be shared on occasion with volunteers and other DOC staff carrying out work in the valley.
If you are physically fit, keen to learn and work, and don't mind cleaning toilets regularly then we want to hear from you! A current full driver's licence including experience with manual 4WD type vehicles is essential, and a current first aid certificate and back country experience is desirable.
This position will be on a 10 day on 4 days off roster and you will be required to work weekends and public holidays (including Christmas/New Year). Applicants must be prepared to fulfil this requirement, and be available for the full period of employment from Monday 26 November 2018 to Friday 18 April 2019.
Eligibility to work in New Zealand is mandatory, including a valid work visa covering the whole period of employment if applying internationally.
