The Role

You will be part of Stats NZ’s Core Leadership Team, accountable for delivering value for money outcomes for our customers, suppliers and stakeholders that come from the informed use of data and statistics.

 

Your leadership is important to the effective functioning of New Zealand’s data system. You will play a key role in your Group Leadership Team assisting your DGS&DCE to ensure that the Group as a whole is delivers results while being customer focussed and change agile.

 

As a General Manager (GM) you are accountable for providing across-organisation oversight and focus around your subject matter and ensuring your branch’s contribution towards the efficient and integrated delivery of statistical products and services to our customers. Your focus will be to provide sound organisation-wide leadership to ensure that your branch operates effectively and efficiently to support achievement of Stats NZ strategic priorities in the following areas:

 

  • Lead the delivery of organisation wide strategy and/ or business support operations
  • People and technical leadership
  • Provide operational management and lead service delivery
  • Manage key relationships and drive Stats NZ’s sector leadership
  • Effective communication.
  • Proactively manage your branch’s Health, Safety and Wellbeing practices.

General Manager Data Management and Operations

As General Manager -  Data Management and Operations you are responsible for leading data governance and management within Stats NZ. This includes responsibility for the management and support of our statistical and data platforms, and our register based approach to producing fit for purpose statistical data sets.

What can you bring to the role

  • Have experience in managing, motivating and developing a multi- disciplinary workforce and harnessing the talents of employees at all levels. At least five to 10 years’ experience in senior leadership.
  • Strong senior or general management background and/or experience in leading complex business programmes.
  • Proven ability to manage across all levels in an organisation and maintain strong working relationships across the organisation.
  • A passion for unleashing data to enable customers to make great decisions
  • Be intellectually, analytically and conceptually agile and experienced in dealing with complex matters.An agile and transformative mindset
  • Possess a relevant tertiary qualification or extensive and comparable, relevant experience.
