E ngākau whiwhita ana koe ki te kaitiakitanga o te taiao o Te Matau-a-Māui?

 

Kua whakaritea mai e Te Kaunihera ā-Rohe o Te Matau-a-Māui tētahi tūranga kaihautū mātāmua hou hei tātaki, hei ārahi, hei māngai anō hoki puta noa i te whakahaere e tutuki ai ōna manako kia angitu ai i ana hononga me tana mahi ngātahi atu ki te tangata whenua i ana kawenga katoa.  

 

I tō tūranga hei Pou Whakarae (Kaiwhakahaere Mātāmua, Ngā Hononga Māori) mā te Kaunihera, ko tāu he:

  • Mātua whakarite kia mārama ai te Kaunihera, kia mauminamina anō ai ki ngā kaupapa e whai take nui ana ki te tangata whenua.
  • Mātua whakarite kia tika ai te arongia o ngā uara me ngā tirohanga o ngāi Māori i te rohe.
  • Whakaū i ngā hononga toipoto ki ngā iwi me ngā hapū Māori, ki ngā whakahaere anō hoki e aro nei ki ngā whakataunga Tiriti, otirā, he kuhu anō ki ngā kaupapa ā-hapori.
  • Noho hei kaitohutohu matua mō ngā kaupapa Māori, he mahi tahi hoki ki ngā māngai kua pōtihia, ki ngā kaihautū anō o te Kaunihera mā ngā hononga o te rangatira ki te rangatira.

 

He tūranga whai tikanga, he tūranga mātāmua hoki tēnei i te Kaunihera, me te aha, me whai tētahi tangata:

  • He nui tōna mana me tōna aweawe hei kaiārahi, e maiangi ake ana rānei ki tēnei pae.
  • He pūkenga ki te whakarite whanaungatanga, ki te whakatika raru, ki te whakatau anō i te puehu.

Hawke’s Bay Regional Council has created a new senior executive role to provide organisation-wide leadership, guidance and representation to meet its aspirations for successful partnerships and engagement with Tangata Whenua across the work it does.

 

As the Council’s Te Pou Whakarae (Senior Manager, Māori Partnerships) you will:

  • Ensure the Council understands and is responsive to the issues of interest and concern to Tangata Whenua.
  • Ensure the values and views of Māori within the region are effectively represented.
  • Maintain close relationships with the region’s Māori iwi/hapū and Treaty Settlement representative organisations, and be active within the flax roots of the community. 
  • Be the principal advisor on kaupapa Māori and be able to work closely with elected representatives and the Council executive through rangatira ki te rangatira relationships.

 

This is a vital and senior position within the Council, which requires someone with:

  • Existing, or emerging, mana and influence as a leader.
  • Excellent relationship building, problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Fluency in Te Reo and strong knowledge of Tikanga and Te Ao Māori.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Te Reo and English.
  • Team leadership, and project and budget management experience.
  • A basic understanding of public policy, legal and scientific concepts.
  • A relevant tertiary level qualification.
  • Experience in resource management and/or local government would be an advantage.
