Downer has entering into a long term Asset Management and Facilities Management contract with the Department of Corrections and Ministry of Justice, and we now require a National Programme Manager to assist with the delivery of this contract. This involves the proactive project management and delivery to the national portfolios of approximately 300 facilities across New Zealand.

This role reports to the Contract Director and is part of the Leadership team, and requires you to work with the customer to plan, execute and deliver Projects and Programmes of work. With a strong focus on stakeholder relations and managing client expectations, the scope of projects will generally be where the site delivery teams require technical support and/or where the scale of activity cannot be delivered within BAU activity. There will also be instants where national programmes of work covering multiple sites will be required.

The scale of projects will be singular projects up to $5m and a large volume of activity at a smaller size/value. This role is responsible for delivery to agreed deadlines, within budget and meeting company commercial requirements. This includes acquiring managing and coordinating resources including team members and third-party contractors or consultants. The National Programme Manager will define the Programmes and Project objectives and oversee quality control.

About you:

• A strong understanding of best practice project management principles and methodologies

• Exceptional communication skills to manage the expectations of two large central Government clients

• Well-developed report preparation and interpretations skills

• Tertiary qualifications in Engineering or Building Science

• At least 5 years managing a team of Projects and Engineering staff

• Ability to motivate and manage a diverse and geographically spread team

• Demonstrated ability to manage Project Programmes across the country

• Ability to work in an environment that is challenging and varied
