About the opportunity
A rare opportunity has arisen for a senior structural engineer to join this progressive and industry respected business. As an Engineer seeking to take your next career step, you will be joining a  company with a respected global brand as an important part of their close knit Christchurch office. The company is well resourced and has strong working collaboration with the NZ head office in Auckland and internationally with the Australian team. As Senior Structural Engineer you will be providing engineering expertise, guidance and solutions to account managers and design technicians and have strong relationships with the Auckland engineering team. You will be focused on providing structural timber and steel designs for timber buildings, with a mix of residential and commercial projects. You will enjoy the opportunity to get hands on with local testing facilities, designing your own bespoke components and products and testing them as part of bespoke solutions for your clients. Stakeholder relationships are fundamental, involving daily contact with architects, fabricators, consenting authorities and engineering practices, providing them with a high standard of technical engineering support. You will also have the opportunity to further develop your industry brand through technical presentations at architectural and building industry conferences and seminars throughout New Zealand. There is also the opportunity to become involved in product innovation, specification and development utilising the new onsite test rig.

About you
To be successful in this role you will require;

• Bachelor of Engineering (Civil)
• Minimum 6 years’ relevant engineering experience
• Proven building industry timber and steel design experience
• A comprehensive understanding of New Zealand building codes and standards
• Excellent communication and relationship building skills
• Able to work autonomously with a broad range of clients
