Well established in the water/wastewater treatment sector, our client organisation is going from strength to strength.  They are known for their quality and ability to deliver, where they design, manufacture and install water/wastewater treatment and related systems throughout Australasia and the Pacific.  Due to their success and continued growth, they need an experienced and motivated Senior Engineering Manager to provide exceptional leadership, guidance and support to a cross-functional team in process design, manufacturing, estimation, project management and financial management, whilst ensuring customer expectations are achieved or exceeded to the highest standards.

Managing a team of 8-9 staff and reporting to the General Manager - Projects this will be a very ‘hands on’ role where it is expected that a reasonable proportion of time will be spent directly involved in preparation of engineering packs and providing process and project engineering support to the Estimation team and Project Managers.

Your key responsibilities will include;

  • Provide the team with vision, information and leadership that informs and motivates performance.
  • Undertake departmental project planning, scheduling and coordinate internal and external resources. 
  • Ensure designs/engineering packs are executed in a timely and efficient manner to achieve project delivery and budget needs.
  • Develop strong professional, long-term relationships with clients, consultants and suppliers based on delivering results and working to our values.
  • Manage any staffing issues, ensure performance and development plans are in place, reviewed regularly and performance issues are managed appropriately.
  • Contribute to project scoping activities, including contract bids, estimates and tender proposals to the standards required. Demonstrate sound negotiation and closing skills in a variety of situations including for variations to scope or standards required.
  • Provide technical advice and assistance to resolve any technology implementation issues.
  • Manage departmental training and development program, providing appropriate level of mentoring and training.
  • Maintain systems and structures in order to support effective use of resources within the team.                                                       
  • Integrate continuous improvement concepts and techniques into all aspects of the role.
  • Ensures all Health and Safety policy and procedures are understood and adhered with.

To be considered for this exciting new role you will possess the following skills and attributes;

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant Engineering sector ideally within the Chemical or Process Engineering sector.
  • Proven management experience running multiple projects ideally within the Water /Wastewater treatment sector.
  • Experience and knowledge of construction and contracting sector.
  • Proven track record of delivering projects on time and on budget. Strong financial acumen.  
  • Skills and experience in managing staff, client and subcontractor relationships.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience in Microsoft Office and MS Project, as well as strong documentation and reporting skills.
  • Design and CAD skills, estimating and procurement experience.
  • Strong QA and Health and Safety knowledge & experience.
