Mott MacDonald is a dynamic and innovative management, engineering and development consultancy working on landmark projects worldwide. Wholly independent and employee owned, we have staff worldwide working in sectors including transport, energy, buildings, water and advisory.

Our team in Wellington have exciting water network and environmental monitoring projects and are seeking monitoring technicians to expand our capability. These positions are very hands on so ideal candidates will be those looking for a physically active role. These roles generally involve work in the field installing, calibrating, and servicing flow monitoring instrumentation and undertaking drainage inspection work. The successful candidate/s will be based in our Wellington office but may be required to undertake short-term travel both in New Zealand and Australia if required. You will be working alongside skilled water industry professionals as part of this role.

A good level of general computer knowledge is required well as the ability to learn multiple specialist software programs that relate to the role and equipment you will be using on a daily basis. An ability to manage and fix small problems relating to equipment and software is essential. We will also offer full training for the right candidate/s.

The person who ideally will be suited to the role will have the following attributes:

• Keen learner and may suit people who enjoy a physically active role, such as labourers
• Sound computer skills with the basic packages as well as the ability to learn new specialist software
• Practical and shows initiative
• Accurate record keeping including field observations, calibrations and checks.
• Able to manage their time and organise their work effectively
• Physically fit and able to pass a full medical test
• Willing to work around wastewater and in manholes with live sewerage
• Able to work various hours when needed and/or travel out of town overnight/multiple nights when required
• NZ drivers licence
• Legally entitled to work in New Zealand
