Port Marlborough is a small, forward-thinking port and marina business operating in Picton, Havelock and the wider Marlborough Sounds. Environmental leadership, preventing harm, valuing the accomplishments of our people and engaging with our communities are top priorities for us.
The Marine Team provides towage and pilotage services to Port Marlborough’s shipping customers, and is responsible for management and maintenance of the company’s marine fleet which is made up of two harbour tugs, a purpose-built pilot vessel, and other smaller work craft.
The Marine Engineer is a permanent member of this team, providing professional engineering services for vessel operation and maintenance. The role provides crewing services as required across the fleet in order to optimise efficiency of the overall Marine Services operation.
Due to the nature of this role, a degree of flexibility is needed to meet the 24/7 requirements of shipping operations.
The successful applicant will hold a Mechanical Marine Engineer Class 5 or higher ticket; previous experience working on harbour tugs is preferred. You will be committed to working as part of a high-functioning team, will have good interpersonal and communication skills and will have a positive and proactive approach to always achieving quality results. A current Marine Medical and full NZ driver’s licence are required, as is the ability to work in NZ indefinitely.
