The Far North District Council is a respected and trusted organisation that is committed to working with the community, elected members and community boards to enable and deliver the best outcomes for the region

We are committed to delivering excellence by being a high performing organisation, and are embarking on a business refocus and transformation to realise this.  At the heart of this is embedding our values of ‘integrity, manaakitanga and professionalism’.  We’re looking for those people with the talent, enthusiasm and commitment to be a part of our high performance journey

About the Role

Delivery of capital and renewals programmes is key to our success, and we’d like you to lead this in relation to our district’s building and facilities.

Our Infrastructure and Asset Management department is tasked with looking after district facilities, roading and stormwater, as well as water, wastewater and refuse. In this role you’ll be part of a Capital Works team made up of like-minded Project Managers.  Our district’s facilities include community halls, libraries, and the like.  You’ll have responsibility for tendering procurement, managing consultants & contractors, financial budgets, and being the interface between the project being commissioned to operational and asset delivery.

About the You

In this varied role, working to tight timeframes and budgets will be second nature to you, as will being able to communicate simply and clearly to everyone from community boards to members of the public. This role can be quite hands on at times, inspecting District facilities to ascertain the programme of works, so a current clean Driver’s License is essential.  Ideally you’ll have a background in Prince2 and the ‘better business case’ approach.

You’ll be working within a professional team supported by a committed organisation driving a high performance vision.   Combine your dedicated engineering/building and project management background with a desire to be part of realising our vision.
