Our Auckland based client is a privately owned premier Designer and Manufacturer of high quality products for buildings including customised design solutions. This company is continuously evolving and wish to employ new enthusiastic people with the same attitude towards growth and continuous improvement that they have.

The role of the Project Manager / Team Lead involves being a leader within the engineering sales support team and to manage projects that require the input of their skilled in-house team. You will be the driving force and project champion and take on all the responsibility that goes with such a key role within the team.  Excellent communication skills between departments will see you become the ‘go to’ person within the business for answers around projects and lead times.

The position requires someone with design, engineering, and practical solution skills across multiple facets of the development process. You will be involved in:
  • Manufacturing Process
  • Project Management
  • Product Design and Development
  • Quality Assurance
  • Product Customisations
  • Procurement
  • General Trouble Shooting
Having knowledge of in-house design for manufacture and a keen eye for detail is vital to succeed in this role. The demands are high, and we need someone who can work well under pressure and still produce high quality work. You will be immersed into a dynamic team with a high turnover of work. The ideal candidate will be someone who can think on their feet, isn’t afraid of a challenge and hard work and willing to go the extra mile to do the job to high standards.   

Core Competencies
  • Tertiary qualification or proven experience in a relevant Engineering or Design Discipline; i.e. Mechanical or Manufacturing engineering or equivalent
  • Project Management experience within a team environment
  • Experience with Solidworks, including Vault and EPDM
  • Attention to Detail and Quality
  • Continuous Improvement + LEAN Design and Manufacture experience
  • Problem Solver
  • Effective Communicator – verbal and written
  • Organisational and Time Management skills
  • Microsoft Office proficiency
  • Flair for Design and Innovation
Personal Attributes and Qualities
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a relevant role
  • Exposure to the building industry is ideal – i.e. with Architects and Builders
  • Must be able to define detail with sales staff and customers
  • Level of professionalism suited to on-site representation of the company
  • Ability to use initiative to recognize opportunities (both internal and external) to grow the business.
  • Ability to recognise opportunities within this division to decrease costs, improve operating efficiencies and effectiveness and working with the factory manager, put measures in place to improve areas
  • Willingness to work outside normal working hours on occasion when required in instances where commissioning or repair must be completed during these times
