About the business and the role
We at JZR Accountants & Consultants believe that we as the preparers of our clients' financial information, are uniquely positioned to provide them with context and meaning behind the numbers. This means we provide them with more analysis, more commercial insight, and a true business partner that can help them to make better business decisions.
We are looking for an energetic, motivated and proactive business advisory accountant that will work closely with our Directors on advisory and compliance engagements.
We invest heavily into training and our Directors strongly believe in investing into the success of our staff so that we can all prosper together as a team.
We have extremely low staff turnover, which is a testament to the way that we treat our staff and in turn our clients.
Job tasks and responsibilities
Working directly with the Directors on advisory and compliance engagements. Such engagements may include:
- Three way financial forecasts for financing and regulatory body compliance purposes;
- Preparation of management reporting packs
- Preparation of financial statements and tax returns for SMEs
- Tax consulting, including research into complex areas of tax laws on high value transactions; and
- Assisting with IRD audits and risk reviews.
Other aspects of the job will include:
- Review of annual financial statements / workpapers and GST returns for current compliance engagements
- Training clients in best use of various cloud software solutions, including Xero, Smartpayroll, Spotlight Reporting etc;
- Providing research on complex and highly technical aspects of tax and financial reporting legislation and presenting the findings to the Directors; and
- Provide energetic, consistent leadership to the accounting team.
Skills and experience

5+ years' relevant experience (New Zealand experience gained in a CA firm will be an advantage)

Relevant professional qualifications in addition to the above will set you above the crow

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent problem solving skills
- High level of emotional intelligence (EQ)
- High level of technical tax and accounting skills
- Be a motivated self starter that is diligent, resourceful, and hardworking
