Bloxam Burnett & Olliver (BBO) is an employee owned consulting firm of Engineers, Planners and Surveyors based in Hamilton with 80 staff. We're involved in a diverse range of projects including highways and bridges, land development, wind farms, and municipal infrastructure. BBO is also part of the Safe Roads Alliance working with the NZ Transport Agency to make New Zealand’s roads safer. We are big enough to offer sizeable and interesting projects, but small enough to be responsive and personal.
BBO is recruiting a Senior Highway Designer to apply their design skills and oversee design on highways, local roads and general civil projects largely in Waikato, Bay of Plenty, and Central North Island.
The Challenge:
- Carry out and oversee highway / road design including geometric, pavement, and civil design predominantly using the MX design package.
- Liaise with clients, contractors and other technical disciplines to deliver innovative, robust, technically competent design solutions with sound documentation.
- Coordinate with transportation planners, traffic engineers and other members of the wider project design team.
- Provide mentoring and guidance to CAD staff and less experienced Design Engineers.
- Represent the business to clients, provide good client service, and assist on proposals.
Your Skills:
- Hold a Civil Engineering diploma or degree qualification.
- A minimum of 7 years’ relevant experience including considerable road and highway design experience.
- Preferably you’ll have advanced knowledge of the MX design package and be familiar with New Zealand design codes and standards.
- Excellent communication skills and an interest in leading and developing others.
