Christchurch is a rapidly changing city and the Asset Management Team within the Three Waters & Waste Unit has a challenging future ahead. We continue to seek balance with the renewal of our ageing infrastructure, rates, and the levels of service we provide to the residents of Christchurch. In this challenging yet exciting role, you will be reporting to the Team Leader of Three Waters & Waste Asset Management. As an Asset Engineer - Stormwater & Land Drainage, you will have a responsibility for providing asset management services for the Council owned stormwater and land drainage assets within the City. These include:

  • Stormwater Drainage - the provision and maintenance of the stormwater drainage system (surface water management systems such as; streams, rivers, utility waterways, basins, pumps, structures, pipes etc)
  • Flood Protection & Control Works - the maintenance of the natural waterways and their associated structures and systems. This includes stopbanks, flood gates and the hydrometric network (rain and water level monitoring systems)

To succeed in this role you will hold a tertiary qualification in Engineering (BE) or equivalent discipline. You will be computer literate and your knowledge in, or experience of using InfoNet and other assessment management systems is highly desirable.

Our successful applicant will demonstrate experience within the area of land drainage or similar field, ideally within local government. You will be highly motivated, and pride yourself on your excellent relationship building, communication and interpersonal skills.
