Detail information about job Site Engineer - LPC Cruise Berth Project. Terms and conditions vacancy

  • Dynamic, landmark project - unbelievable opportunity
  • Civil Engineering tertiary level qualification essential
  • Christchurch based permanent full-time role

Since the 2010-2011 Canterbury earthquake sequence of events, large cruise ships have been unable to berth at Lyttelton Port, using Akaroa Harbour as an alternative where possible. Christchurch City Council (CCC) has a strong desire for large cruise vessels to return to Lyttelton Port due to the wider tourism benefits to the city. The Lyttelton Port of Christchurch (LPC) is embarking on a project to construct a custom cruise ship facility which will be able to accommodate some of the largest cruise vessels in operation worldwide. LPC is committed to delivering this important project by the start of September 2019 in time for the 2019-2020 cruise ship season.

The proposed berth layout consists of:

  • Landside bollards at the west of Cashin Quay 4 to restrain the bow lines;
  • A 10m wide suspended deck wharf structure to allow alighting of passengers and light vehicle access;
  • Two dolphins for berthing and mooring to the east of the main wharf; and
  • Two mooring dolphins to restrain the stern lines.

This exciting project is now underway and HEB is looking to employ a talented, high energy Site Engineer to join our Structures Team on site and make his/her mark on this landmark project.
