About the opportunity
You will report into the Network Management Team Leader – Transportation and work closely with the Business Unit Leader – Urban Development & Water.
You will be required to assist the Engineer’s Representative on roading, civil and 3 waters construction contracts.
Key responsibilities:
- Undertake testing including; levelling, scala penetrometer testing, compaction, permeability testing etc
- Review and amend designs in the field based on sound engineering principles
- Recognise technical and professional limitations and be prepared to request assistance if required
- Approve, monitor and enforce Traffic Management Plans on behalf of clients as required
- Contract administration
- Preparing tender documentation
- Administering the tender process including tender evaluation, making recommendations to clients and awarding tenders
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- Currently a technician or degree qualified
- 2+ years’ experience as a contracts engineer in roading, urban development, structural fields and general civil management
- Fully conversant in the requirements of administering NZ3910 Conditions of Contract
- A good understanding of best practice and relevant standards in the water, civil and transportation fields
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to build professional relationships
- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Good skills with the Microsoft Office suite
