The Company
Our client is a leading Contractor in the electrical Distribution industry in New Zealand. They are committed to delivering quality focused contracting services nationwide.
The Role
Our client is seeking experienced Cable Jointers to carry out jointing on paper insulated and polymeric cables from 400v to 11kV, and polymeric cables up to 33kV.
Required Skills and Experience
The successful applicants will have:
- EWRB Registration and a current Practicing Licence
- Competency as a Jointer in 400v to 11kV PVC
- Experience with 400V plastic insulated cables
- Experience with live 400V lead sheath cables
- Experience with paper insulated and polymeric cables up to and including 11kv and polymeric cables up to 33kv
- Experience with 22kV cables other than oil-filled and / or gas pressure cables
- Experience in jointing of oil filled cables of 22kV and above would be an advantage
- Relevant industry experience
- Compliance, commissioning and testing experience for all requirements of cable jointing up to 33kv
- Experience installing electricity network conductors
- Excavates and reinstates underground cable installation sites
- Installs cables, terminations and joints in polymeric and/or paper insulated power cables
- Good understanding of the value of health and safety in this environment
- Neat and tidy work habits
- Have a full Class 1 New Zealand driver’s licence
- Have previous experience in armoured cables would be an advantage

The successful candidates will need to pass a pre-employment medical drug and alcohol test, and a pre-employment Ministry of Justice check.
