About the team

The maintenance of the National Grid is of vital importance to all New Zealanders. We expect power to be available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The Works Outage Planning team is responsible for scheduling outages over a rolling 2-year period that will enable the efficient delivery of all required maintenance on the grid.

About the role

In this interesting and dynamic role you will work with Transpower Project Managers, Service Delivery Managers, Service Providers, Generators and Distributors to identify and coordinate the outages necessary to facilitate work on the transmission grid.

You will use your highly developed communication skills to build strong working relationships with internal and external customers to ensure all parties understand why outages need to happen and that the required preconditions are in place. You will also have the ability to identify opportunities to improve performance and support the implementation of continuous improvement processes for new and existing services.

Of equal importance is your ability to relate well to all kinds of people - using your diplomacy and tact to successfully negotiate outages with external parties who may hold an opposing view in terms of timing and costs. This role can be challenging at times, but that just makes it even more interesting!
